Hi,

I'm having trouble with a single speed conversion, the chain is not meshing completely with an on-one 18t sprocket (photo below). The chain is a sram SX 12 speed eagle. Both chain and sprocket are new.

Anyone had a similar problem?

Another option is a new kmc z510s 1/8" bmx chain that i have lying around, but i'm guessing that wont work well with the sram sx narrow wide chain ring?

It looks like the chain isn't seating all the way to the bottom of the sprocket teeth.

What width is the sprocket?

AFAIK, it's likely to be 1/8" (3.175mm) or maybe 3/32" (2.38mm) - 9 speed and up chains are only 2.18mm wide.

I have had similar with different brands of sprocket and chain which in theory should have been compatible and also as tillydog says

It's an On One sprocket - is it even circular?

Oval sprockets, it's the latest thing.

Yer On One description is rubbish…

”Consists of 2 spacers and 1 x 16t cog - works with 9/10/11/12 speed 3/32in chain or 1/8in single speed chain.”

3/32… chain is def not 12pseed etc

8speed chain is what you want, that will still be ok with narrow wide ring.

Thanks all, very helpful. I'll pickup an 8 speed chain.
