Has anyone got one of these? I was considering picking one up for riding as I'm mostly riding alone these days and Luxembourg is (thankfully) very light on health and safety limitations so even on the urban trails there's a reasonable chance of a decent fall down the side of the valley if you make a mistake so it'd be useful for the loved ones to have a vague idea where I last checked in if I was a no-show after a ride.

I've got one.
I carry it all the time, it stays switched off for short local rides but is on for all day/multi day rides in track mode.

What are the "running costs" for it in terms of the satellite contract?

Just paid my subs a couple of weeks ago.
IIRC it was £113 for basic package AND tracking.
Give the wife piece of mind though.

yup I've got one. Great device, though the subscription is a bit pricey. I've let mine lapse for a while until I really need it again.

Currently I'm just riding the same routes each ride and emailing her a strava link so she can have the police look for me if needed so this might help. For short rides I can use endomondo to track in real time and then get the spot when the weather is better and I want to see where I end up.

I've got one, had it for a couple of years. Bought it when I was doing the Munros by myself and wanted a bit of a safety net in case I tripped and broke my neck...

It's €99 pa for the basic package. I don't bother with the tracking as it gets through batteries and I mainly use mine for backpacking so the extra weight of spares is an issue...

29 grams for a pair of AA lithium batteries.

Maybe just eat two less jelly babies to compensate for the weight differential. 🙄
