Now the winter is drawing in, it might be nice to have a hot drink on the bike.
Is there such a thing as sports coffee, with a bit of electrolyte in and so on?
Apparently there is...

That looks horribly like a coffee flavoured energy gel, which is surely an abomination?
Why do you need electrolytes?
Cos the 'Marketing' tells him he needs them.
Probably don't.
Did go through a phase of using vimto in the bottles which didn't lead to any noticeable drop in 'performance'…
Bit of this warmed up in a flask.

I'm no expert, but Shirley that'd be an oxymoronic drink cos the caffeine's diuretic effect would just pump out the electrolyte? Maybe.
The marketing people would probably call that ‘scientifically balanced’.
I remember a tv comment saying that tdf riders often have a shot of coffee before riding ( not sure what a shot of coffee is called ) although having a sports coffee seems crazy.
You can already buy iced coffee in a can. Not sure what else has been added to it.
I stay with regular electrolyte and take a couple of lines of finely ground expresso blend. All you need to do is carry a mirror and a spare tenner. Depending how vain you are you may already have the mirror on board.
SIS double espresso gel and some water to help it down. Very European. If you just take caffeine, Boots Energy Plus caffeine tablets or Pro Plus if you like branded (x3) will give you a cheaper hit for the same dose.
A single espresso has about 80 mg of caffeine, if you are interested. Energy drinks can’t supply more than 200 mg at a go. That’s the rules.
As for electrolytes, I like sis tablets in a bottle. But the gels are as good.
When I’m poorly, I take hot tea with sugar and a small addition of salt. Just the tip of a T spoon. You can add the same to coffee but you’ll need the sugar.
I take my sports coffee while sitting down in a cafe. With a dough based nutrition block.
But when I must take it on the ove... https://www.amazon.co.uk/Ranuw-Bicycle-Aluminum-Cycling-Handlebar/dp/B07D2F2814/ref=pd_sbs_200_t_0/260-6427278-1001739?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B07D2F2814&pd_rd_r=ceaa04a2-a994-49e7-9517-7ef467a82659&pd_rd_w=3qji1&pd_rd_wg=KJuyl&pf_rd_p=e44592b5-e56d-44c2-a4f9-dbdc09b29395&pf_rd_r=F1FSKYCC3W1Y84G9W3KW&refRID=F1FSKYCC3W1Y84G9W3KW
Just have a gel or bar.or whatever then enjoy your choice of normal coffee.
Insulated bottle + hot orange is nice on night rides, i suspect luke warm coffee wouldnt be so nice, especially if you like it milky it might not be particualrly palatable when breathing hard, ive made the mistake of taking milkshake before! But Im intrigued to try though.
Does anyone make a bike bottle that can take 100c liquids? Ive melted the inside of my elite one.
I don't like coffee. Does anybody make sports tea?

Plenty aluminium bottles about.
But tbh your not putting 100c liquids in.
I often boil a kettle and dump it in some squash in my camelback big chill in winter.
Just googled it, the elite iceberg is only rated to 40c, the camelback one doesnt say but is polypropylene so should be good for boiling water.
A mate keeps plastering maxxswole workout coffee on stalkbook. I thought who would want a coffee with energy stuff in and ignored it, but maybe..?

I've got a Klean Kanteen screw-top, double-wall, stainless steel insulated bottle that fits perfectly into a bottle cage. It's a 12oz one that looks a bit like this one, but mine was a Haglöfs promo
Edit: If you google 'Klean Kanteen in bottle cage' there are loads of pics of various sized KK bottles in what look like pretty standard cages.
Klean Kanteen also sells its own bottle cages that its bottles fit into, but the one I have works perfectly with a standard cage, the shoulder is at the same height as a normal water bottle so sits very securely in the cage.
The smaller GSI Microlite might work as well and is a lighter, arguably better option, but I haven't got one to hand, so not 100% sure.
Buckfast has a decent amount of caffeine in, if you want a some winter zing on the trails. It's a Scottish fashion though, not that widely avaliable.

You used to be able to get it in an off license in Rusholme.
DOI: Scot, but from outside the Buckie triangle.
Bourbon, rum or whiskey in a hip flask.
If you are doing a ride long enough to warrant electrolites your drink will be cold by the time you crack it open.
A clubmate once bought a bottle of tea in one of the insulated camelback bottles on a particularly cold club run. We took the piss, he held up the pretence about how good an idea it was, then, half an hour later he took his first swig and it was cold.
Oh how we laughed.
