Dont know if its just my set of if its common.
lever is probably 60% to bars before biting then squeels like a stuck pig (F&R) have just been bled at LBS and new pads Which hasnt seemed to make much diff.

My old XTR were fantastic bit early and were strong but the new ones are just crap in comparason and feel spongy.

anyone else had this prob?

If they are new, then it does sound odd. I have a set that I bled and it was hard work and felt really spongey afterwards. I've tried bleeding them several times, but getting all the air out is tricky. I'd probably say there is still air in there.

Amazing brakes when they are right though.

Spongy brakes = air in the system, you can't compress a fluid.

Squealing would also suggest something wrong at the caliper end, mis-alignment(can also cause spongey feel if bad enough, as you end up trying to flex the rotor to clamp it between the pads), or contamination of the braking surfaces(spilt fluid during bleed, previously contaminated rotor not been cleaned, leaking caliper seals, or weeping fittings).
