I know this question pops up from time to time.
I'm after some double-butted spokes for my new audax build. Looking at Sapim Race, DT Comp or ACI DB. In black, ideally with black plated brass nipples.
DT are coming in around £60 for the wheelset, Sapim around £46, and I think I can get the ACIs for around £35.
Any reason not to go for ACI? I've used them before and they're fine, but just wondering now if I should pay more for "better" spokes. Also, I've heard the black coating maybe lesser quality on the ACI. I know I could go for silver, but I've black hubs and black disc rims, so would like to keep the wheels stealthy 🙂
Also, if anyone's got around half a box of suitable 292s and/or 296s then let me know 🙂
check pricing at rosebikes. I did a pair of 29r wheels with dt revs(silver) and nips for £36 posted.
ACIs are spot on. I'd quite happily use them in place of DT or Sapim. I've used the black and silver ones and the black wears no quicker than other brands.

ACI double butted are very good spokes - equal to DT & Sapim IMO.
CycleBasket do silver for 20p each & black for 40p each. Postage is £6(!)
Rose bikes fella for dt cheaper than i can get them trade ie i order all mine from there now ACI are ok but not the greatest spoke on the market i only use them on repairs for friends on there hacks if they want a free repair. Sapim are as good as DT Iv'e been building a lot of aero wheels and wheel chair wheels of late with sapim spokes all the aero wheels have had cx rays and the 40+ wheel chair wheels i built over xmas had sapim db black and built up spot on radial lace.
