Anyone know the length of spokes I need to repair a front wheel with Hope Pro2 hub, 32H and a ZTR Olympic rim? Broke two spokes crashing at weekend and the alloy nipples on the other spokes are old and easily rounded-off, so I cant remove another spoke to check the length.
If you cannot under do the other nipples without rounding them then there is no point replacing the broken spokes. You'll need to adjust the other spokes once you've replaced the two broken spokes to get the wheel true.
I would start by putting a drop of plus gas (or similar dismantling fluid) on each nipple (hub side of the rim) and then spinning the wheel. Leave it for 30 mins to soak in. Use a good spoke key and fingers crossed too many don't round.
Thanks woodslikesbeer. I take your point about needing to be able to adjust other spokes so I will give the penetrating fluid a go
Dt swiss have a calc.
or google for spocalc. instructions included and useful for any hub/rim/cross pattern. you'll need xcel or openoffice ( free download ) to run it.
From my memory they are either 268mm or 270mm.
And plus-gas is good stuff, wd-40 may have 1001 uses but it's pretty crap at 1000 of them
