I recently had to remove my SRAM X) cranks to get at the deraileur. I thought I had done it up tight but then noticed that the cranks can move sideways by 3mm or so within the BB
There seems to be some stiffness at a particular point in the tightening bolt's rotation. I cleaned out the narrow space of the non-drive side between the tightening bolt thread and the splines, and cleaned the part it should go onto but it still wont tighten fully, despite getting extra leverage on the allen key
Any ideas? Is this small bit removeable from the crank and replaceable?
When you took the cranks off did you turn the 8mm bolt only or also the 10mm bolt?
Just the smaller bolt, the outer bolt (seems larger than 10mm to me ) is solid within the crank body
Think it might just be a washer missing as the crank is now flush with the axle, which I can see as the large bole came out (but now I cant get the crank off!) I must have left it off when I was fiddling last week
