Love my (medium) Pitch but sometimes wonder if it's a bit long to be 'chuckable' for freemincecorelite. ๐Ÿ™‚ Also wonder if there's something similar to ride that's a bit lighter (as it's my only bike) and was wondering if a second hand small spicy frame would fit the bill. There's one in the classifieds at the mo. Anyone ridden both or got any idea of relative weights?

I could always just get a small Pitch frame I suppose but if I'm going to bother changing I fancy trying something new.

I'm after a bit of info on your pitch
What is the weight?
How tall are you?
I'm 5'8" would I buy a small or medium pitch with 150 forks and 50mm stem
Regards
Jonny

Not sure of the weight sorry.

I am the same height as you and it's right between a small and a medium. I use mine for XC in the Lakes as well but I think small woul be better if you want to do DH type stuff. The medium fits me ok with 160mm 36 vans and a 50mm stem, but is just quite long.

Grum, I know what you mean. I have a large Enduro SL ( I'm 6'1) which shares similar geometry to the Pitch and I fancy something with a shorter wheelbase too. Am looking at Hecklers (again) having test rode one before I bought the Enduro in 2008. Loved it but got a good deal from my lbs on the Spesh.

Hecklers look good and have a pretty short wheelbase I think. Dunno how much abuse they can take though.

Cheers folks.

Dunno how much abuse they can take though.

Don't worry I won't be doing anything too crazy. ๐Ÿ™‚

I don't like the look of the Heckler so much (which is the main thing of course). Will have a look at them though.

Get a hardtail with 100mm forks, but if you must have full sus, what about this:

Where's the skill compensation in that? ๐Ÿ™‚

Any particular reason you recommend the Prophet?

Dunno, I just saw it in the classifieds. Supposedly a very good bike though, pretty light aswell I think. 36's might be too long for it though?

Only rough ball park figures but I had Specialized Pitch, which if I remember rightly weighed just under 8lb with headset and f.mech.

Also had not a Spicy but a Zesty and that was frame only about 7lb.

Both mediums.

So I wouldn't think a Spicy would weigh much less than a Pitch.

Cheers David, will have a look into it.

Thanks tomo - I reckon that's probably likely. What I would really like is the moon on a stick ๐Ÿ™‚
