do i HAVE to use full complement ones for the BB pivot bearings? What would the disadvantages be if i didn't (reason i ask is as i have 2 normal sealed bearings for a pro 2 that would fit)

IIRC there recommended for this task, as the bearing don't turn fully in suspension linkages (full C bearings being better for this), I doubt it going to matter that much though

They will get you out but the FC bearings are specced for a reason.

You need to remove the crank and front mech as well as the wheel etc. The shaft that runs through the pivot can corrode slightly making it tight to get out - so some penetrating oil applied prior to trying is well worth it.

There is a Scottish lad that was on here that sells good bearings on eBay for most bikes - Kasae - and they are at a good price
