Anyone use these? What are they like for grip and rolling resistence? Do they last? For use on the South Downs.

I've got a set of 2.1 s-works ground controls on my anthem. I found they size up very small, my 2.0 mud x's and fast traks are wider, so be warned.
However i found they are a very good 'slightly mud' tyre, rolling well through most conditions and still being able to handle mud as they're relatively thin and the tread clears well. They also weigh 520-530g, making them light but i havn't had a puncture on them yet (touch wood). Grip is also brilliant, it's just the size that might be a problem over technical stuff.

While i like to use them together for racing in the wet i've got a purgatory 2.2 for standard riding to beef things up on the front as they can get knocked about by roots, for something like the south downs though they sound like they should be ideal!

Yep. I use the 29er ones on my hardtail. Very Nobby Nic like and good value fit and forget tyre.

I used the 29er ones front and rear on a hardtail , grip ok in a straight line but rubbish on off camber stuff . Not really suitable for a front tyre IMO and plenty of other tyres around that do everything better.

I've still got a medium worn pair in the loft, and maybe some z-max as well for when it's not muddy.
