I've recently bought a Pitch frame without a front derailleur. Can anyone tell me if I need a adaptor to fit a Shimano "E-Type" front derailleur to a pitch frame, from what I can see the mount holes won't line up without one.
Specialized site says the epic requires one but no info on the pitch. If so, does anyone know where ill get one from??
Thanks
from memory you have to unscrew the bb mount part and the bolt holes to attach this should double up as the direct mount holes. The pitch has little adapters that fit in the bolt hole either above or below the bolt that allow the range of adjustment ie placing the mech higher or lower as the mech holes are elongated (torpedo shaped) rather than round.
There's a link to the 2009 Pitch manual...

Check out the frame schematic on page 12. There is a good technical pic of the frame's front mech mount.
There is a small Derailleur Mount bracket thing. If your frame has this (and it should) you can bolt an e-type mech straight on.
Its quite a cool design. The front mech is mounted on the chainstay so it pivots round the Chain rings.
thanks for the manual link, looks like there is a derailleur mount between frame and mech.
Simon you big girl just go 1x10 or 1x9 - I am for Thrunton you will be fine.
Carl I need stronger legs!, what size chain ring are you going 2 run?
I had to use a DMD mount for my 2008 pitch
32 maybe 34
