Hello I am new to this forum, and am planning to upgrade my specialized hardrock 2011 http://www.evanscycles.com/products/specialized/hardrock-2011-mountain-bike-ec024187#features

My main upgrades will be forks and the suntours are terrible
Brakes maybe some juicy avid
Pedals? NOT cheap nasty plastic!
and rims and tyres as rims are heavy and tyres are useless in any mud or loose tarrain only really good for road

My main problem is what forks would you recommend? I have a budget for the forks of around £150

Many Thanks

Henry

I've got a '10 HR comp as my hardtail, all i've done is change the fork for a RS recon silver, and put SLX hydraulic brakes on it.

£100 for the fork and £140 for the brakes and it does the job for me - although if I rode it harder i'd change wheels and drivetrain too but I can't be bothered as it's mainly for canal towpath/other fitness duties.

I put a pair of 2002 marzocchi bomber z1s on my hardrock they cost me 90 quid of eBay. I find the avid bb5 disc brakes are fine. I use 2.25 nobby nics for xc rides and a maxxis minion dhf and a high roller for mucking about.

I have a Rockshox Tora SL on my carrera Vulcan and its much better than the craptours. Brakes are the older versions of the ones on the rose bikes link. They stop well. Wheels i got from Merlin. Slx hubs on mavic xm317 £70 each and they feel lighter than originals. The drivetrain is all slx,but i replaced that when the others wore out.

I swapped in a pair of Recon Golds, Deore crankset with V8s, and 2nd hand cheapy Shimano brakes off here. All working fine and dandy.
