Is the DT Swiss skewer and special enlarged washer combo actually make the front end stiff enough?
How does it compare to a 15mm bolt thru??
Many thanks.
its actually surprisingly effective!!
my previous fork was Fox 36 Float RC2 with 20mm
my current fork is Fox 32 Evo RL with the DT skewer and 24mm hub end caps
not as much difference as I assumed there would be...
I was thinking of upgrading wheels to Hope Hoops with Pro II Evo hubs and Stans ZTR rims but probably won't bother with the front wheel as the Specialized hub is very unusual in supporting the DT 10mm skewer
Surely there is a 10mm conversin kit?
Think you're talking about the DT Swiss RWS thru bolt system?? DT Swiss RWS bolt thru
Front wheel is 9mmm, rear is 10mm for the DT Swiss RWS thru bolts. Work fine with my Hope Pro II evo's post conversion with hope kits on my stan flow rims....weirdly only the 10mm bolt thu's are listed on the DT Swiss web site....may have stopped making the 9mm? Still available elsewhere if you hunt around:

Hope Pro II 9mm bolt thru hub conversion kit
(pretty sure it works for evo as well and is what I used but might pay to check) seperate kit for the 10mm rear on same site.
You can also go the cheaper bolt thru option: superstar equivalent 9 and 10mm bolt thru skewers....others may like to comment on them as I haven't used them. Got my DT Swiss's on ebay etc as were pricey new.
Have a look at this from the Specialized website:

FRONT HUB Specialized Hi Lo disc, laser-etched logo, OS 24 end caps, sealed cartridge bearing, RWS, 32h
It is the OS 24 end caps, which provide the rigidity, I am worried about on some new wheels.
Thanks for the posts
