Hello All, next year marks the passing of another decade and as such my wife has suggested that I book / organise a special week / 2 week holiday based around a cycling activity of my choosing. I have some ideas of my own but would welcome ideas from others. It can be an organised holiday or something I organise myself. Ideally either mtb or cycle touring. Don't have thousands to spend and probably staying in or around europe doing something non-competitive but open to any ideas to get me thinking.
Cheers.

My 40th treat this year is a week away with Doug @ http://www.basquemtb.com/, I'm not taking the family (this time) but with beaches and nice towns around I would have thought it would make a nice break.

What sort of cycling do you like? For me it would be a big tour around the highlands - I like the less techy more scenic routes but on here are many examples of all sorts of routes. 13thfloormonk did an epic to cape wrath a year or two ago for example.

Interested in my sort of route then email me for details

Sorry should have said. I'm from scotland so have seen most of the highlands over the years, although I may do an off-raod coast to coast. Just me, no family involved.

Hire a camper van, chuck the bike in and tour?

Did this a few years ago and really enjoyed it - picked up the hire van in belgium and spent a fortnight in it in France.

This is the company we used.
http://www.abimo.be/

cycled to the ferry with all our kit - its only a few miles from zebrugge tot he hire place. Nice to drive a van with the steering on teh right side for the country

Its expensive to hire the van but then the rest of the holiday is cheap - these are so nice inside and you can cook properly and they have full size fridge.

It was great to go out for the days riding, come back, the van is cool inside due to solar power ventilation, open the fridge, G&T with ice, cold beer / whatever.
