Hopefully the nonsense a few years ago about closing it to cyclists and peds because Gwynedd council were talking about withdrawing its £30,800-a year maintenance grant to Network Rail for the footpath has been dumped.

Ah yes I’d forgotten about that. Anyways, bit of a long ride round if you don’t notice the closures

Thanks OP for the heads up. It’s about 12 (flat) miles around IIRC, assuming Penmaenpool toll bridge still open?

Has anything further happened with the link between the viaduct and the town? A few years ago there where some plans published so you could avoid the main road at the top of the hill.

Pulling a trailer with two children plus buckets and spades up the hill and then on to the main road was a challenge

I think there was a campaign but when we were there last year we were told it had come to nothing. Cracking part of the world though. Must ride Cader one of these days.

I was there at New Year and I don't think anything has been done. Steep slope up from the viaduct straight onto the road and then narrow or barely there pavement on the other side.
