Obviously off road use etc means they can get 'worn'
However the heals are seperating on mine and I've not had them a year- I've also not worn them much over the past 6months.
my shoes only ever seem to last 1 year, or 2 winters summers. before they are relegated to commuting use only.
I've gotten years out of mine.
We use to sell them and they were very generous with warranty replacements, and I'm sure the warranty on their shoes was two years anyway.
Sounds like you've been lucky to get that much use Hora. My mate had a couple of months before the sole started to seperate. Got told by the bike shop twice that it was the way he was pedalling...
Mine have been worn regularly for three years with no problem other than needing to replace the ratchet straps. Take them back and they'll give you some shiny new ones.
18 months-2 years at least
Usually a good few years but my Tahoes have only lasted about 6 months.
I've got some BG Sport shoes that I bought for the 2008 Transwales, they've seen a lot of use since then, and Mrs PP has some Tahos which have been used justg as much and both are worn, as you'd expect, but in very good nick otherwise
BG Pros have been on commuting duties for about 4 years now. Starting to get a bit ropey but still okay.
The MTB shoes get more hammer - mud, wet etc. but I usually get at least 2-3 years out of them.
mine last a few yrs. I had a pair of Defrosters that started coming apart after about 14 months - took them back to shop and got a warranty replacement. Specialized warranty is very very good
2months BWD? I'd kick right off if a bikeshop told me that. He should have gone to his LBS shouldn't he (or is that the problem).
My previous Spesh BG's lasted 4-5years. They were seriously sagging sideways and still hadn't split before I decided to buy a new pair.
One thing I have noted is the newer BG's have more plastic- not as strong looking.
Shop I bought them from can't trace on their system so I am at the mercy of Spesh customer services.
Then again for BOTH shoes to fail in the exact same spot says there was a weakness in this shoe or design.
my last pair lasted three years.
Obviously if the heels are going you're doing to much walking and not enough riding!
sh1tforbrains I've not changed the way I ride over the years. I'm still unfit plus the soles are designed for contact with the terrain -hence the moniker 'mountain'.
I have had a pair of BG sports for about 6 years now and they are still fine - and a pair of trail 120's for about 4 years. I am hoping the defrosters last just as long!
Why does the moniker 'mountain' mean they are designed to come into contact with the terrain?
A 'road' shoe isn't 'designed' to come into contact with the tarmac'. ๐
I've had my Specialized MTB shoes for 3 years and they're still in pretty good condition.
They don't really get much use in the winter though, so don't get soaked and caked in mud, which is what I assume would cause the most damage.
Years.
Can I suggest Blakeys for when you 'contact' the hills.
A 'road' shoe isn't 'designed' to come into contact with the tarmac'.
No I agree. Its smooth bottomed however the mtn version has deep and chunky grips- even more so than other mountain bike spd shoes from other brands.
It's obviously the excessive amount of walking you're subjecting them to. They're designed for MTB riders not ramblers.
Maybe you should switch to flats and walking boots?
You don't read too good 'boy. I said I owned a pair of BG's for years previously and haven't changed my riding style. Spesh changed their design though.
spesh MTB shoes are rubbish. I've sent 2 pairs back after a coupla months, same for my dad and lots of mates have found that the soles separate at the back. Nice road shoes, but I won't use their MTB ones even though I get a huge discount and know someone in their warranty dept. Shimano all the way
Mine are coming up for 4 years of everyday commuting and weekday/weekend riding. Padding in the heels has been coming out for a year now and there's all sorts of holes and stuff, but they're secure and comfy so no need to get rid yet.
