got some shimano spd shoes, cleat is fitted in the sweet spot.
on a winter boot, would the fittings be in the same place on a same size boot?

Some bike shops have a jig that allows you to replicate the cleat placement from one shoe to another.

I can fit em myself, just need to know if the slots are all in the same place on the same size boots.

AFAIK there is no documented standard, so some variance is likely.
