need some help choosing between the following bikes, I know there is a £700 difference in price but I am expecting the Scott to come down as 2018 bike are released:

Commencal 4.2TR Essential

I live in North London so riding is mostly Epping, Swinley, Hadleigh but with a few Welsh trail centre trips including Bike Park Wales each year. My current bike is a Commencal Meta 55 140mm but from 2009 which I'm not necessarily looking to replicate but these bikes scored well on the 2017 TBOTY (#2nd and #3rd).

I might fancy an Enduro at some point which the Commencal could probably cope with but I also might fancy some local XC series which the Scott could probably cope with too....(not expecting to win either obvs) but guessing not vice versa...

I've ridden the Scott at Hadleigh in Essex and aside from finding the numerous bar controls a bit much (I'll get used to this apparently) it felt awesome, really easy to ride, very natural, capable on the rock garden, drops, berms, jumps etc....cant find a ride for the Commencal

Bit concerned about the weight of the Commencal for hacking round largely flat forests...but similarly concerned about the travel on the Scott for BPW.

Anyone got any pearls of wisdom they want to share ?
