I have a spare day in palma and would like to do a days cycling, preferably mtb but don't mind Road in the sun. Any recommendations I.e bike hire or companies etc

Drive to Port Soller or Soller and hire from Tramuntana Tours. They have a shop in each town and a great selection. There are some good road trips starting from Soller.
+1 for Soller and Tramuntana tours, go for a guided mtb day with them. You can even take the train from Palma to Soller, although this might be shut for winter renovations
Or pick up a loaner from the Rapha shop in central Palma and do a loop clockwise up to soller an back.
Palma to Andratx, then coast road to Soller via Deia.
Over the Col and back to Palma via Bunyola if it's not too late!

The Andratx route is breathtaking- just mind the bends, some are sign posted, some aren't. Roads are epic.
Or a day guided with http://www.tramuntbike.com, although the website has changed and I can't see the guided option.
