Probably a daft question but...

Putting together winter singlespeed and as the frame doesn't have disk mounts i'm having to use an old set of rim brake wheels I had kicking about.

Unfortunately the hubs are to narrow (although I've replaced the axle so that fits), can I just use bolts and washers as spacers to make it fit?

I don't understand...firstly all mtbs from 1990 have the same spacing for QR hubs, secondly I can see how washers would make spacers, but bolts?

Though all you need to make up any space is a washer or similar, yes, and make sure the axle is engaging in the dropout.

Will assume a typo bolts=nuts ๐Ÿ™‚

Got any old cup and cone axle washer's/spacers ? i used them with inboard chaintugs to space out a 700c wheel into a KM frame.

Did see an awful death trap job where the owner had respaced a free wheel hub to run a single speed only, couple inch's of spacers and washer's.

It can be done safely.
