[#1696389]

I've decided I'm heading this way tomorrow, with a map and the desire to find new trails.

I know the Southern Upland Way, and a few other bits and pieces, but I am looking for any other tips for routes in this part of the world. Any knowledge gratefully received.

Thanks in advance.

Actually, cancel the request!

Found this route guide, and although I've already done some of it I can use this.

Quicky
Start at Dudisdeer, go up the old Roman Rd to the Dalveen Pass(A702). turn right onto 702 and follow to SupW. Turn onto SupW to the Daer Res. Turn right onto road towards Daer and Kirkhope farm. Follow farm track to Wedder Law(bit of a hike involved.
Here you will come to a gate and you keep right downhill. As you start climbing again there is a track to your left onto Glenleith Fell. This track is not on the maps(older ones anyway) Follow this all the way down ๐Ÿ˜† to Blackhill Moss and then to Durisdeer.

Can be done the other way round which I prefer ๐Ÿ™„

Enjoy

Ta the noo

No, that's grand Trekster, more to consider. Mind you, I've done some (but not all!) of what you suggest. Thanks.

Hi gents, just a reminder of a Facebook group I've started to pool together some good natural routes.

If you're on Facebook:

and there is also a Google map group to share them http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF&msa=0&msid=105847865695991846214.000487e0a07df5560481f

If you can find the time it would be great if you could plot it (or I will when I get some time).

Cheers!

Facebook is the work of satan, and you couldn't pay me to use it. Otherwise a good idea. I suggest when you've got enough routes make a website. Good luck.

Cheers. Did that route yrs ago and it is not realy worth the effort+ I reckon the bit heading back to Leadhills could be a hike due to the winters snow/erosion.

There are a couple of tracks out of Wanlockhead I noticed the other week which may be worthy of some investigation ๐Ÿ˜‰

I am planing to do a ride from Sanquhar to Dumfries sometime in Aug/Sept if you fancy it? There are a number of ways to do it depending on the fitness of those who fancy the attempt.

Done anything out of Moffat?

Was up there recently, quite a coincidence ๐Ÿ˜‰

On the left at the farm nr Pawhope is a good descent, Bodesbeck. Means a road ride back to Moffat or if parking/starting at the SupW gate on the wee back road just off the Selkirk Rd.
We start at mates house in Wamphry, cycle up the Wamphry Glen and pick up the "all purpose" track to the left at the top of the climb. Then pick up SupW, around a 40k trip.

At Pawhope you can climb up to the right of Ettrick Pen and descend down into next forest. Taking this track all the way to Same yLing. Return via forest track and "all purpose" track. ๐Ÿ˜†
