Thinking of doing a section of this one weekend with an overnighter (maybe Bothy) anyone got any experience of riding any of this?
Probably starting at Moffat as we are Dumfries based heading East - unless we are better coming back the way?

Oh yes. Dumfries resident here.
From Dumfries you can bike up to the Dalswinton windfarm, out to Loch Ettrick, into Ae and then all the way to Moffat. Then SupW to Peebles.
Or you can get the train from Dumfries up to Sanquhar and ride back to Dumfries(50 or 60mls) or stop in Moffat.
Lots of options. OS 78 Nithsdale is all you need really for a good day or two out.
Not sure on the condition of the local bothies tho. Brattleburn should be OK but within reach of Moffat neds!!
The one above Durisdeer is a bit rough, used by sheep shearers and shooters. Usable tho.
A nice(in hike a bike way)ride is Moffat over to Eskdalemuir/Same Ling Tibetan Monastery.
You could start at Moffat and work your way back. We used to do this before BR put a dirty great gate across the entrance to a farm which has a bridge over the railway, Harthope. But I have noticed a track going into the old farm running alongside the old carraigeway, so that has to be investigated. From Harthope you follow a farm track, cross afield to get to the SupW and then down Brattleburn.
Hi Treksetr (John) its Will here from Dumfries. I remember riding from Moffat to Samye Ling years agon when i did the 3 T's with Eddie, Cyril etc was a good day out (70 mls!!)
Have riden some of the SUW into Wanlockhead too from Drum and remember carrying a bit. Will have a chat with the lads
