Hi there

Looking to ride the Southdowns Way again this year. Last time we stayed in Amberley over night but this time around it would be good to push on for another ten miles or so. Make the second day a little easier.

Looking for some ideas on where to stay please?

Thanks

If you are ok with Youth Hostelling, then Truleigh Hill YHA is perfect. Its on teh SDW and 60 miles in (going west to east).

Pubs in steyning or bramber are the normal choice . Chances of a beer and a big feed are probably higher

I'm in Steyning. Was thinking about sticking a yurt in the back garden for exactly this kind of thing.

Nice secluded garden, separate from the rest of the house; couple of trees for a hammock, BBQ, fire pit, secure bike storage etc

3 mins from the pub.

I'd second Truleigh Hill YHA, I stayed there this year when I did the SDW.

Thanks for the responses.

I think Steyning / Truleigh Hill look like about the right distance along the route.

For Steyning can anyone recommend somewhere to stay / eat

For Truleigh, if we stay at the YHA, where can we eat?

Thanks

We ate in Upper Beeding, you come to it just before the climb up to the YHA. Then you scoot up to the YHA for the night.

If you stay truleigh hill you can walk over to devils dyke pub. Or ride obviously...we walked, made a nice change and we had a comedy drunken night back when we came across hundreds of people walking the 100km Gurkha route through the night. They were not happy to stop and chat...
