[#11991413]

Hi all,
I'm off down that way for a week this coming Saturday. Staying in Lynmouth.
I've been there once before - sampled some of the trails around Lynmouth and the riding is frankly - excellent.
Some of the best I have ridden in the UK. It's like Hebden Bridge on Sea.

Anyway I'm doing some trail sleuthing. It looks like there are a fair few trails around Horner Wood south of Porlock, and also in the woods to the South West of Minehead. I am wondering whether it is worth making the short trip over from Lynmouth, or just to stay on the Local Lynmouth trails (family holiday, so time is of the essence).

Anyone know this area and what sort of stuff is in those woods? Trailforks says mainly blue runs.

Also last time I was down there I didn't venture up onto the moors - I stuck round the combes. Just wondering if there were any pointers on trails up on the moors not to miss?

(Would also appreciate any pointers on stuff in the combes too)

Thanks for any advice!

Lucky sod. I've just been there with my daughter for a couple of nights and we didn't get a chance to ride our bikes. The whole place was cycling nirvana from what I saw, even for those evil roadies.

Contact Exmoor Adventures and talk to Dan French best bet will be to get a guide.

I’ve not ridden the Lynmouth side of Exmoor, other than on the road... I would imagine the inland trails are quite weather dependent. On the other hand, the trails between Porlock and Dunkery beacon are pretty much all first class... the recommendation of a guide is a good one as I can never be sure there’s not a better trail in the next Combe and/or the climbs are often pushes, which may or may not bother you, but isn’t always obvious on a map

The bridleway heading East from Simonsbath is great. It tracks the river Barle and it is by no means gnar but it is just an absolutely beautiful location! Well worth a look along there.

My parents live in Brendon village, it is a lovely area, I really need to get the MTB over soon for an explore!

Didnt that BW near Simonsbath get the gravel treatment a few years ago?

It's been a year since I last rode it on a bikepacking trip, but a couple of spots may well have but still fairly rough in places as far as I can remember. I can picture more the scenery than the trail.
