Recommendations for a small quiet campsite - south lakes handy for rides near Newby Bridge/Windermere.
Thanx

bowkerstead farm 5 mins from grizedale, you have the option of camping in the open field or in the wooded area that has secluded bays/clearing so its a bit quieter,, its agreat place and arthur the owner allows you to light camp fires.

I suppose it depends where around Windermere you want to access, but there's always the ferry which crosses in the middle somewhere. The one we've used from time to time, which sounds to be what you'd like, is on Rather Heath Lane nr Staveley (Barn Farm on an OS map). It's a very small caravan park with a small grass area for a few tents. We used the site after a few bad experiences on popular sites nearer the mountains, on the occasions we've used it, we've been the only tent there.
