Don't like the new finish/start, prefer to have a play in paradise mtb.

Didn't realise the eastbourne end was "new" - that was the route I took into town anyway - its a lovely feeling knowing that once you've crossed the golf course road, it's a cool, flowing descent into town!!!

For some odd reason, despite telling my wife to hit me if I mentioned the SDW again, I'm now hankering to give it a go on the single speed....!!! Next year I reckon!

Perhaps you want to join the SDDers - http://www.southdownsdouble.net/hof.html ? ๐Ÿ˜‰

The bike route originally finished(started)on Paradise Drive. Was a bit disjointed considering the coastal path has always terminated in Dukes Drive.

Oh and don't get any ideas of trying the Seven Sisters route. Not only is it footpath only, it's a veritable rollercoaster of cliff like climbs and descents.

Just thought i'd mention - anyone who wants to blast around Steyning Woods, Chanctonbury and Cissbury this Sunday, we'll be leaving from the bridge opposite the Red Lion pub in SHoreham at 8am (cos we've got kids and stuff) All welcome - normally ride for about 3 hours in a loop.

Unfortunately, what with work and toddlers, my calendar at weekends is practically full until Christmas, so alas no big days out possible for a good few months!!
Tim - I MUST join you lot soon!
Rich- will post dates for a whole weekend jaunt (prob stay over at mine, with BBQ etc) next year!

For info - those of you planning on riding the SDW on Sat 22nd Sep, that's also the date of the British Heart Foundation's London to Brighton off-roader, the last leg of which is the SDW to the coast.

Should be a good number of riders (were a few hundred last year) ๐Ÿ™‚

It was the same weekend last year for both, i don't believe we saw any of the L2B riders though.

Thought i'd add to this thread instead of a new one.

I've only done the SDW once, last year. Overnight again.

Looking like it will be dry from now till the weekend. So that's good.

Debating whether to run the Aspens or the Ardents ?

How is it for punctures ? i didn't get any last year and was running the Aspens (i think). But was a bit slippery at times due to overnight dew ? The Aspens are 300g lighter... quicker rolling.... Hmmmmm

I'd go light and fast. No puncture or grip issues with SB8s a few weeks ago. Rear was pretty worn already with a 8mm pre-existing tear most of the way through the sidewall.
