Usually run Trailrakers in the mud, but they obviously have their rooty issues.
Big fan of Spesh tyres and usually run a Purgatory front, The Captain rear on my BFe - have just got a Storm Control to try but not sure how to use it -
Keep the Purgatory up front and use the Storm on the back?
Switch the Purgatory to the back and try the Storm on the front?
Just get another Storm and use them both ends?
After a winter tyre set up that will be decent in the slop but still OK everywhere else (which the Trailrakers are not and swapping tyres constantly is a PITA)
I've used storms both ends and really like them in the wet.
Purg rear/storm front rather than other way round I think.
Can you not just try them and see which you prefer?

In which case steer clear of full on mud tyres!
Purgatorys are pretty bloody good all round IMO, certainly one of the best (if not the best) all round general use tyres I've found (and I've tried many many tyres over the years). Other than the fact they're perhaps a bit wider than ideal for winter (shame they don't do a 2.1" version as well as the 2.3) I'd say run them front and back.
If you must use the Storm one end, I'd say put it on the back for sure. The extra traction in deep mud will be welcome on occasion, but you'll want the extra grip and reassurance (and the width) of the purgatory up front the rest of the time.
