Did some gymnastics (jumping, rolling) at my son's school earlier this week as part of a sports day for them all and my quads feel like someone's been at them with a sledge hammer. They feel really dead, and walking down stairs/tying shoelaces is quite an effort.
Easy spinning, low HR ride?
Ice cold bath?
Warm bath?
Massage?
Tesco's Finest New Legs?
Help!
Foam roller.
no idea if it'll work but I like the idea of grown-ups crying tears of pain ๐
Hot tub and beer?
[edit] sorry should have said been there and done the same too, took a week before I could do the stairs pain free, just take it easy.
"grown-ups"??
Stretch well after excercise, bit late now obviously.
Cold bath straight after for 6 mins followed by skins - for next time ๐
Yeah, Foam roller. Stops the DOMS the day after, like a deep tissue massage.
The day after a really bad legs session at the gym once, I had to take an ice bath just to be able to walk. It helped a bit although that may be due to not feeling your legs!
Oh and I also find massaging with a tennis ball helps as well as trying to keep moving so you don't seize up
STRetch
Foam rolling is great, but quads are very easy to self massage. Bit of baby oil and get your thumbs and elbows in there.
Foam rolling is essentially self massage but people always forget if you can get to the body part then just actually massage it yourself!

RICE , rest, ice , compression , elevation . It works .

Not heard about rice before, just regular boiled basmati etc? Will give it a try.
Am I the only one that finds this slightly amusing? You went for a bit of a much about at your kids sports day and can now barely walk? True or not, that thought makes me chuckle ๐ Those kids out be tough!
Edit- guess you could have been leading a bunch of sessions, still makes of chuckle though ๐
This is where I find turbos handy, for ironing out sore legs.
Just spin in a very easy gear, no sprints, no pressure and for about as long as a CD.
Haven't heard R.I.C.E since the eighties.
