[#6990322]

out riding after work, slogging up a steep calderdale road, i had to get off to walk a bit. road levelled out, so i climbed back on the bike. when i put pressure on the pedals, something popped in my left knee, like loud enough to hear it.
instant pain, and unable to pedal with any pressure.
managed to get back to van, and now home, my knee is swelled and very sore at the back in the joint. very painfull to bend.

any idea's what i may have done?

No idea, but get it seen to, it doesn't sound nice.

Good luck.

Definitely in the knee joint and not in any of the muscles compartments (ie hamstrings, quads, calves etc)?

Bugger, thats a pisser after all the problems you've been dealing with!

I hope it gets better soon, my own left knee has been causing problems i can't stand up whilst pedalling anymore and have massive pain in my left knee.

Ohhh doesn't sound good mate! That's what it sounded and felt like when I snapped my ACL last year. Still not back to anywhere near strong enough to give me any confidence in it. Admitted to myself recently that my ice hockey playing days are done.

Get it looked at ASAP and listen to the physios for recovery times etc.

That's... that's a bummer, man.

Hopefully it's not your ACL - it doesn't really sound like the right mechanism of injury for that. Perhaps it's more likely meniscal. Either way, it sounds like it needs looking at. Fingers crossed.

think it must be a muscle thing. managing to walk ok and can spin a easy gear with no pain.
few days rest should see it ok.

Are you going to get it checked, Ton? Or just rest, and hope for the best?

ACL snapping would be a strange one. Usually that needs some sort of trauma. Most likely a bit of cartilage come lose that would account for rapid swelling.

that was gonna be my plan of action. i have had ligament damage twice before, so i am pretty sure it is not that.
it felt a bit like something was clicking so a bit of floaty cartilage could be a possibility.
but it just feels tender and sore like a pulled muscle/hamstring does, so i will rest it and see.
