Good pics! Nice.
I missed this bit: Someone crashes into Annie at the bottom of the Rock Garden on Lap 2 was it on TV?
Cracking photos, was she using tubs?
Nice pictures.
So no pictures of the actual winner ๐
OK, my photo selection may have a little bit of bias....
Someone crashes into Annie at the bottom of the Rock Garden on Lap 2 was it on TV?
Not seen the TV yet, plan to watch it tonight.
They came out better than I expected. The rock garden ones were using a x2 Tele-converter to turn my 70-200 into a 140-400, and I needed all 400mm!
Great photos.
Cracking photos, was she using tubs?
Boardman said some of them were in the commentary I think.
Nice photos. I didn't see the crash on TV but started watching late.
Did look like a lot of them were on Tubs...
And for Juan:
Some French bird, who also rode with Annie.

Great pics! was cracking on the telly too, impressive riding all round.
Was amazing to see 20,000 spectators for a XC race. When I used to do the NPS, 100 would be a good turn out (and they were all friends and relatives)!
Cracking photos - As 'ART' says the t.v coverage was superb too.
Some nice shots there mate, so Hubble worked OK then! You must have been opposite me when you you shot her coming together with the other 2!

I was looking for you, as I thought you'd be at the Rock Garden. We stayed there for laps 3 & 4, then headed off towards the start / finish.

Liam has been on 29er all this year, and I think most of last year, he tested 29er when he went to Giant.
Dude a photo of your camera .....but like how does that work...... sorry watching easy rider on dave:-)

You thought being in the Olympics she would have got her bike somewhere better than Halfords ๐
Great pictures ! What was it like queues etc... For those of us that have to wait until tomorrow ! Going with kids .. Any top tips ?
Get there early - 20,000 people and manual bag searches = slow to get in. We were there 2.5 hours before the race. Loads of space once you're in there and great views from everywhere as it's in a bowl. You can move about between each lap and catch them at multiple places.
My photo spots were:
Deanes drop (lap 1)
Snake Hill (lap 1)
Rock Garden (lap 2, 3)
[s]Climb[/s] Descent with the stone with "2012" carved in it (laps 4,5)
Start / finish Line (laps 5,6)
You have more laps, so even more opportunity to move about.
Bring sun cream - we got burnt today.
Thanks for the advice
and take the Map you get with your tickets - handy to work out where the crossing points are to get somewhere...
So enjoyable, very fast and so much better than i expected. Would make an interesting 24hr course, weather proof!
Batty confirmed after the race that she had suffered a fracture in her right clavicle. Her father said she also has a broken rib.
๐
She was on a run of form, too. Not good for her.
Get well soon!
Got any of Karen Hanlen, No 19 ? Friend of mine.
What are tubs ? can someone enlighten me ?
Is that what Boardman was on about in the commentary, i.e. tublar tyres, glued on to the rim ?
Never come across those on a mountain bike before (where have I been hiding ?)
tubs are essentially a tyre and tube stitched together to make an air tight tube, its then glued to the rim.
Advantages are less chance of pinch flats as the rim profile is different, ability to run way lower pressures, ability to still ride on a flat tyre.
Dugast produce the Rhino, but they'll also sew a riders own choice or sponsors tread onto their own casings.
Most common in cyclocross where amateurs like me use them, quite common in elite XC riders.
not been cropped though. more here if you view full size theyre huge...
