[#7130818]

So next week I'm having a bash at MM Solo.

It's not the first time I've ridden MM but it will be the first solo.

I'll only be racing myself.

Looking for some guidance re fuelling that doesn't include gels, caffeine hits etc.

I've nothing against these just that I don't use them and don't fancy trying them on the day!

I won't have a pit crew so will be reliant on either eating on the bike or coming in/ stoping off at the campsite every so often.

All suggestions welcome ๐Ÿ™‚

I like to drink plain maltodextrin with orange squash or something mixed 1/2 or 2/3 strength.

Then I top up with real food. If you aren't taking any maltodextrin you might find it harder to get the simple carbs in. You can only eat so many haribo or similar. If there's something high GI high carb you know you can eat plenty of, that's good. Scones dont need to have a lot of fat, or something like jam sandwiches with white bread. Cold pop/coke is also a hit with me.

It depends on your taste, but personally I really like the savoury. Barbecued sausages make fantastic salty yummy snacks, ideal when cold too. I also had little foil packets of peppers, onions and marinaded chicken cooked up, then I popped one in a tortilla for a lovely fajita between laps.

I also took 20 mins out to have a small meal at a real mealtime - cos my stomach was expecting it.
