[#1099275]

Went out for a quick spin this morning and had two seperate instances of dogs chasing me barking and snapping. First one was lab. The owner could see me coming. Then when the dog was chasing me I just kept going. She got upset and shouted for me to stop so she could catch up with her dog. like it was my fault. Stupid stuck up doris, typical Ponteland toffee nosed cow. I should stop so her dog could catch up with me and her with it.

Second one again could see me coming but only managed to get a hold of two of the three dogs. The third one went for me again. She just shouted at me to shout at it. Scared the crap out of it, but she was OK and knew it was her fault. Not a toffee nosed doris.

If they aren't easily controlled why are they off the lead? Maybe I should ride tooled up with water pistol or something.

Thanks for tip of water bottle but best not to provoke any dog but they shouldn't attack you in the first place. I was knocked by a big dog and dented my new Easton USA Zaskar back in '01 I was test riding as it knocked me off.

She tried walking off but I called the police and had witnesses and in the end I got her to pay for a new frame!

With a dog snapping at me I'd ride for my life.

Generally, it drives me mad. dog owners know there's a cycle path but usually don't take any action as poochy charges straight across...

Exception: today as I was approaching a ped with dog, the chap stepped across the path and intercepted his dog. Easy, it just took a little situational awareness and he'd controlled the problem. I made sure to be extra polite and thank him - hopefully it will catch on.

As a postman, I'm not too fond of dogs, s**t spreading animals that exhibit pathological, stereotypic behavior that their owners call 'character'( aye, I've read one or two books on ethology).
So it might surprise you that that I'd defend their right to be on cyclepaths- since virtually every cyclepath I've seen is built on an existing dog walkers route/ right of way.
Still. they should be under control though.

to play devils advocate i was walking on a cycle path with my dog and my 3 yr old was riding his bike, some idiot biker thought it was ok to come speeding through us without warning (shouting/bell etc)and nearly took out both dog and son, whenever im riding said path i slow up near dogs/walkers/kids as all are unpredictable and all have a right to be there enjoying the outside.

Ayatollahofniche you really are a malaka aren't you.

Agree about the majority of dog owners, passed plenty that had well behaved dogs or brought them under contro; until I had passed. Everyone has right to access the land, but we all need to act responsibly whatever we are doing.

I'm the idiot?? you're the one riding away from a dog then complaining its chasing you? Grow up and take responsibility for yourself, all you had to do is slow down pass the owner let them gain control then you'd be on your way.

The owner should have had the dog under control in the first place, if it is gonna chase everyone on a bike it should be on a lead, end of.

Makority mean majority (sam leyboard)

So when a lion chases you for lunch, just remember to slow down and play dead...cos he's going to leave you alone right?

Om nom nom hic burp!

If it's trying to eat me and bites me then I'm going to bite its balls off! ๐Ÿ˜ˆ

Funny vid:

I had already passed them. Hence them chasing after it not towards it. So I have to turn around and ride back past the dog to get to the owner! They didn't get control of it before I passed them the first time, hardly worth a second bite of the cherry literally. At least read the post before your less than intelligent comment. And yes all things considered I think you probably are. But malaka is not idiot anyway.

They're dogs. They're off the lead. They chase things.
Goes with the territory.
I was pinned against a wall by two farm dogs once, in a farmyard through which passes a bridleway near Rugeley. Bastard farmer stood laughing. "Stupid ****ing cyclists" was his only comment before calling the things off. Even then he waited till I was 50m away before sending them after me again.
