Has he hung up his wheels and retired or gone over to the darkside?

Just wondering as he seems to have gone quiet...

Nothing on the BC website so I guess he's retired after his crash at the Olympics. Could be totally wrong of course

I know he didn't do the nationals last year either...

Word is that he got hit by a truck when out training and broke his femur. He has by and large had the unluckiest professional cycling career there is.

I speak to Liam occasionally and he's not retired just hasn't got a pro contract anymore. Has designs on doing the Commowealth games but as reported was hit a while back and injured again, recovery is proving tricky so still can't ride easily off-road.

Really? That's twice he's been dropped now due to being injured/ill.

A fractured femur is a big deal and is not something you get over easily, especially to compete at anything at an elite level. Really, really gutting news when I first heard of this a while back. Lets hope he gets back to where he wants to be soon.

I'd imagine it is pretty tough getting full time sponsorship when you are at the older end of the spectrum and recovering from a major crash. There isn't a lot of money in XC (especially in the UK) to go around so I'd have thought that accounts for the sponsor issues more than anything.
