No war, I've already declared victory on the STW leaderboard 8)

What are you new to cycling or something CH, that word must never be spelt correctly or uttered, particularly before a race!?

I thought you increased psi to avoid them though?

I thought it was like a balloon- far easier to pierce when highly inflated than otherwise......

Google can probably provide definitive answers either way ๐Ÿ˜†

BC website-
An under-inflated tyre will be far more prone to pinch flats and thorn punctures but an over-inflated tyre is more likely to be damaged by sharp flints as it wonโ€™t deform around them.

Mrs Nath should bring a clipboard and pen and do a survey of anybody leaving the race with a problem that shall no longer be named and ask them what PSI they started with ๐Ÿ˜€

(I'll let you suggest it to her ๐Ÿ˜‰ )

Yeah I can't repeat her answer to that ๐Ÿ˜†

I'll drop psi to 80/90 instead of 90/100?

I've put an idea out there- I now accept zero responsibility for the outcome of it and offer precisely NO more specific details ๐Ÿ˜€

In a nutshell-
You run 80/90 and get no p****s = I told you so ๐Ÿ™‚
You run 90/100 and get a p
**** = I told you so ๐Ÿ™‚
You run 90/100 and don't = fluke!
You run 80/90 and DO = wrong tyre selection ๐Ÿ˜†

Your Zwift bike has a longer stem ๐Ÿ˜† You had a great position on there..... ๐Ÿ˜‰

Whilst we're on the subject of bike set up, need to put the race bike back together and got a most important decision to make...

Black or camo? ๐Ÿ™‚

Head says black, heart says camo ๐Ÿ™‚

And there's me thinking you've been pedalling to post all these super fast Strava times ๐Ÿ˜†

Another tick for Cammo here ๐Ÿ™‚

CH, no pedals and cranks just makes it so much more aero ๐Ÿ™‚

Rawka, thanks, it's a few years old but does the job. I think the black and white camo would suit and surely make me faster.

85/95 psi. Simple.

I'd run it 5 lower than normal as the runway is bumpy with expansion joints.

Faster for sure and nobody will see your stealth attacks coming ๐Ÿ˜‰

Just need a stealthy black skinsuit ๐Ÿ™‚

85/95 psi. Simple.

At around 70kg I'd do the same. Bit more if sure smooth. Bit less if rough.

Not something I'll ever have to consider! ๐Ÿ˜›

It's not the smoothness I'm dropping the psi for, it's the flints ๐Ÿ˜†

85/95 it is then ๐Ÿ™‚

@mrblobby - camo tape!

You'll have to remind me CH, what's the date for that one ? Also entry website etc please.

I've got an XC race with Southern XC series on i think the 12th March... but other than that i've got a kids party thing on the 4th... That's it though...

Anyone thinking of doing the next series of races at Hillingdon or the ones coming up in spring at Castle Coombe or Thruxton?

I could be tempted to try a couple of Thruxton rounds as they can be Cat4 only..... Possibly alternate?

I might come and watch one of the Hillingdon ones. I go home from Hillingdon most days, but have never been to the bike circuit!

Gray, get signed up and come give the Aeroad a good thrashing ๐Ÿ™‚

There's also one on 22/04/17

Tempting but same day as Farnborough & Camberly CC 25.

Do it!

I've not booked any of the Tuesday nights ones yet as I'm not sure what job I'll have yet ๐Ÿ˜†

Tempting Nath, but put quite a lot of work in this winter preparing for a season of time trialling, don't really want to get too distracted with road racing. My old diesel engine is not really suited to it, I've not trained for it, I'll likely be a bit rubbish at it. I'll definitely come and play at a few rounds though ๐Ÿ™‚

Best of luck with the job hunting.

Hmmmm. Fair enough if you don't want to mess up your TT training but there's a wee dram of modesty there me thinks ๐Ÿ˜†

You're not that far off of just TTing off the front if you counter-attack a hard break attempt....

Heh, I would like to give it a go one day. Current excuses are:

1. I'm really not fast enough.
2. A crash now could snap the rods / screws in my spine. Better to wait until they're out I think.
3. I don't yet have a date for the removal surgery, so if I sign up for something then sod's law suggests that timing won't work out.

@myblobby thanks! Could treat it as a training session. You may even get hooked more than TT'ing! ๐Ÿ˜†

@gray ๐Ÿ˜ฎ Sounds nasty!!

I've got pre race nerves now ๐Ÿ™‚

A lot wider than Hillingdon though.

Just gives you more people to blow away with your speed!

Normal tactics of sitting in and doing nothing for 35-40 mins may have to be addressed though. At Hillingdon there's a lot less folk to overtake to get into the top positions ๐Ÿ˜†

I'm going to have to go rouge on my little book of tactics tomorrow ๐Ÿ˜

I don't think 80 started Rd2? If they did- I ticked off more than I thought ๐Ÿ™‚

You'll be fine Nath- you'll get straight to the front every time the bunch slows into the wind with your new aero-ness ๐Ÿ˜‰

80 is a big field for 4th Cat. Some places that have those sorts of numbers for the 4ths will split the field and have 2 races instead, which is IMO a sensible policy. More fun for those taking part, more points available and probably a bit safer too.

Haha no! Almost got dropped today the 16-18mph winds were brutal!

Weighted average power was FAR more than I wanted it to be @268w!!!!!

I did an attack though, that was fun. I'll let CH do his write up first ๐Ÿ™‚

Happy with the setup on the bike, no achey knees or back!!!
