Reading a review & it states the bike was tested in Rotorua with its "hero dirt that could make the most plastic of tyres feel great"

WTF is hero dirt?

In southern california the trails are really dusty (no, honest !) and actually slow because of that.

After it has rained (or I suppose, in winter) it gets much more grippy. They call that hero dirt.

(on strava you can see that loads of KoMs are set in wetter months)

Dirt that makes you feel like a hero.

Or in English, grippy.

We totally get that down here in the South East - when it's been dry for too long it gets loose as hell, so fast on the straight bits but messy in the corners. There's a sweet spot when it's just moist enough for maximum shred.

Had dirt like blu-tack on local trails the other week.

Brilliant fun cornering. But fell off a few times on the next ride after more rain and overestimating my skills.

It's just nice and grippy out there in places (in other's it's really not when it gets wet). A lot of the trails are on Volcanic soils too and they drain incredibly well. On some trails even in pissing rain it just grips.
