The BB on the fat bike was totally fubarred so fixed that (eventually) and went out for a short local loop.
This easy descent into the nearby village was about 7cm of wet snow over wet grass - cue one or two comedy "I'm heading sideways" moments along with: "Oh, OK, I was going this way anyway" route "choices"

A foot and a half of snow at all my local riding spots. Anything low level is sheet ice. Sold the ice tyres last year after 11 years of mild winters......
From the weekend

off out 430 cant wait, low ground woods, and golf club descents i should think 4-5 inches only..
Had some amazing snow rides recently, but today wasn't one of them. South end of Sheff had really wet heavy snow that compacted to almost-but-not-quite ice as soon as it was walked on. Riding through the virgin stuff was just slow going, but anything that had been previously used was a continuous bout of getting knocked unpredictably off line by all the little icy divots at the bottom of the footprints. It basically turned into a single 2.5hr long "save", and all bar 1 descent were sat down and grinding to keep the bike moving forwards. Knackered now!
Last week on the edge of the Fens:

Leeds here. Out at 6am this morning on 'Goldilocks' snow (not too deep, not too slushy, not too icy, not too slidey... it was just right). Has turned to slushy snow now, but was fun whilst it lasted, and probably the best snow to ride on all season.
Some nice pics, looks like you all had more than us. Ours was that heavy wet stuff, not too bad with the 2.8 tyres on.
.
No Snow here, and two bikes fitted with ice tyres. Wahhhh

2 appear to be identical. can’t blame the forum, that’s user error

Much the same as Northwind and Stevenmenmuir for me - I've ridden my mountain bike 10 times since Christmas Eve and they've all been in the snow. It's been a real mercy as the trails would normally be total slop but instead they've been laugh out loud fun.

Headed out on the bike around 9am, turned back after 2 miles as as much as I love snow it was a ****ing nightmare to ride on. Slightest turn on the bars and the front was all over the shop! Put my walking boots on instead

Ggggrrrrr!!! 😡 not jealous in the slightest, honest!
Here in Bedfordshire we’ve just had rain, followed by more rain with the odd day of rain in between.
Been a while now, but here’s one from 2017 because I like the pic ❄️

west yorkshire snow yesteday was just wet and spinning out uphill, it then started cold raining so went home :0(

That's a path not a stream, I mean it was a stream then. And probably still is today.
After a very slidey walk from home yesterday I think we've reached the stage where all the tracks close to town are now too icy to ride. That puts the nice snow out of reach unless I take to the road or drive to ride. It doesn't look like we'll get a thaw any time soon and there is more snow forecast over the next week.
Just rain here (in Stirling at sea-level)
So will share this photo of Colsnaur from the weekend before last.

Great snowy photos. We’ve had lots up in North Yorkshire so far this winter. Got lots of photos but not sure how to upload them to here. Whats everyone using to upload photos to nowadays?
I use imgur. Easy (on a desktop) to link to photos for forums.
Thanks i shall give that a go. Hopefully photos to follow shortly

It worked!! Whoop!
pic fail
I feel personally attacked by the nondelivery of today's snowstorm
Try again - Mrs Yak at the local spot last weekend

that’s a good looking bike. what is it? it’s my size, too.
edit: i like looking at bike ride pics.
we’ve had snow since october. i’m looking forward to spring. i don’t even care if it rains every day. well, that isn’t true, i just want to ride my normal bike!
Snow rides are the best. The relative lack of them is one of the worst things about living in Brighton - we are pretty good at rapidly organising an often comically messy group ride when the snow does turn up.
Had a great night snow ride a couple of years ago - the sound of tyre on crunchy snow interspersed with moments of silence when hitting jumps, the quick rolling and surprising grip on the frozen ground and packed-down snow, the hilarious drifts when you hit the powder, the glitter of snow and ice in your lights, the solo journey home when you almost get lost in a blizzard in a wood you normally know so well - all so memorable.
It's a Stif Morf. great bike! can take some massive tyre sizes too so could make it an almost fat bike when needed. they've just made a 29er too the "Squatch" well worth a look!
haha yeah i'm starting to very much look forward to warm rides and much more daylight to ride in.
👍

Not much riding here since before Christmas - 5ft drifts on the road to our house. Anywhere offroad is knee-deep minimum
Blimey, where you live?
Blimey, where you live?
Glenrinnes, just north of Glenlivet.
The wheelie bins have disappeared overnight! The worst of it isn’t due until tomorrow and Saturday
Nothing but deep mud in Oxfordshire, last weekends ride made only worse by the deep mud actually being deep slurry. Luckily a flooded Ford was on our route home and got the worst off, although it meant an hours ride with wet legs.

@dovebiker - I feel I'm either lucky or unlucky as not got it at the same levels as you not too far away. We live at 200m near Ferness and its proper snow and has been since xmas pretty much. Meanwhile a few miles to the west on the Cawdor estate.....

And yes, it looks like it could be a dumping over the next couple of days.
reckon at least half of all rides this year have been snowy rides! im over it
