Looking at doing Snowdon next year. Probably in the summer months so the curfew will be in force. I don't just want to ride up Llanberis and back down the same way so was thinking might do Llanberis up and Ranger/Telegraph down. Not sure how long to allow for the ride, what do you guys think? We're fairly fit riders and able to ride techy stuff but not supermen so won't zoom up and not dh heroes so might mince down some bits. Is 3 hours for the loop reasonable or do I need to allow more time?
2-2.5hrs up......30-45mins down......weather dependant.....roughly 🙂
That estimate is from the car park a mile or so from the 'start'.......
Couple of hours up and 8 - 10mins to get from the top of snowdon to the gate at the bottom of the rangers path. That’s providing you don’t get a mechanical. After the rangers path you have telegraph as the logical finish but I normally carry on and do something else.
Allow at least 3 hours, set off 6.30 or even 6. You'll likely want some time at the top to rest, take photos etc so take the pressure off.
take all day and enjoy it.
Apart from needing to be off by 10 😁
3 hours up. 40-45 minutes down.
You will sightsee when you're there so realistically allow 4.5 hours at least.
Park at Rhydd-Ddu, then ride down the road to the Ranger path. Climb until it levels, then turn left up and over into Telegraph Valley. Descend to Llanberis, Climb to Summit via Llanberis path. Descend via either Ranger or Rhydd-Ddu paths. The latter is far techier and will take a fair bit longer than the Ranger.
Budget 4-6 hours depending on which descent you choose.
