[#1994425]

I was looking around Evans and a couple of smaller LBS's to look for something light, comfy, warm and waterproof... couldn't believe the sh*te on sale... not adequate, or if it was, it cost a fortune. On the way back empty handed, I dropped by an "Outdoors" type shop and started taking a look at the Berghaus, North Face, Patagonia etc etc... I have and wear some of this but it is a bit heavy duty. Then I saw "ski wear sale upstairs"... Snow Board section - Bingo!!

Don't know all the brands, but it's worth checking out - does what it says on the tin, and kinda trendy looking too.

Got myself a couple of tops for under a 100 - softshell type half zips that actually shed water and breathe.

My old bonfire jacket is still going strong for commuting n riding in the wet.

Then again it felt extrememly out of date when snowboarding the other year, not being tweed or some kind of jester outfit 😳

I often have the warmest hands on our wet winter rides. What with my big snowboarding mitts.

See, I do it the other way round. Gore Cosmo jacket and Gore waterproof trousers do me fine for snowboarding.

My friend does it the other way round and wears MTB specific body armour from 661 for snowboarding. Much cheaper than Dainese or RED.

That said, I wouldn't trade my Dainese spine guard for anything, money well spent.

Regatta softshell and Trespass 3/4 shorts for riding. Cheap and great.

ohh and baselayers can be used with both, and after a 1hr session at MK last week i found climbing hills much easier so i'd even go as far to say that not only are clothes transferable but mtb is a good way of keeping the legs tuned for winter and boarding is a good way of keeping them active for riding 😀

Shop around is definitely the way forward. It sucks why MTB gear costs so much for what it is, especially since it will get covered in clag and rips.

... exception - Endura stuff is quite reasonable, it's just the only sizes they do in all the LBS I go to are S, XL and XXL.

Snowboarding gloves are the FUTURE for winter riding. Just don't do what my mate did on the road and take them off for a bite to eat whilst leaving them dangling from his wrists.... caught in front wheel=over the bars and knocked AC joint out in his shoulder..ouch!
