[#4298802]

One spoke snapped "inside" the nipple, replaced and surrounding spokes checked and tension. Some "marks" on the next spoke along suggesting a stick in the spokes maybe.

On todays ride, the new spoke is OK but the one it BEFORE has snapped in the same place.

Anyone know if this is coincidence or is snapping at the nipple / thread indicative of something else?

Wheel looks true.

Old wheels? check if the spokes are seized in the nipples. More may go.

Well yes, but they were the same ones they ere selling at full RRP before & after, so that shouldn't be the issue.

I had an episode of about 1-2 spokes kaploding after each ride. At times, they would "go" when I let the air pressure out!!,
Think it was the effect of a loose wheel, and each spoke being the "last straw".

Sat down, replaced the broken ones, reoiled the nipples, and properly tried the wheel. No probs since.....

Well, when I ordered a new spoke, I ordered 4. So in case there was something in there that may have affected the rest (and on the basis I have to undo/ruin some Stans yellow tape yet again) I'm going to replace all the spokes either side of the original breakage this time while I have the (tubeless) tyre off.

Ruined my ride it did....

Incidentally, you can just poke a hole in the yellow tape with a knife, then slap a wee patch (of more yellow tape, or quality electric tape) over the hole to repair, rather than retaping the whole rim. More chance of damaging it when changing tyres in future, though, which can be irritating.
