Theres no way thats meant to happen! Warranty surely? Unless they are really old or your quite clearly smashed that part of the crank repeatadely and most likely with some 3 foot long sledgehammer.

Luckily I was just cruising down the street! I managed to keep it under control when it went.

Specialized said 'yes we have seen this bore with the cheap cranks!'

Not sure how much of a fuss to kick up as I am going to replace them with something much better. They have done 7000miles.

I've broken more sets of cranks than I can immediately recall. To be fair though at least some of them broke from cracks that started where a rock had hit the crank.
