It seems to me that most group rides listed on Zwift are really small, at least when looking at the number of people signing up in advance. given that some won't turn up and some won't stay in the group, it often means there's too few to make any sort of group, so really what's the point?
I prefer to do rides with a few hundred, as there'll usually then be several decent sized groups, and it's fun to adjust your pace to stay within a group that you naturally end up with after a few minutes.
Just looking now, 18.15 on a Monday, most of the rides in the next hour have fewer than 10 who have said they're going. Several, less than an hour from start, have literally one or two people going.
I wonder how easy it is to offer up a public group ride - are there too many, so they are all tiny?
Or are more people riding solo or doing private group rides?
Or do loads more turn up at the last minute, without indicating in advance that they're going to do that particular ride?
Ride with the pace partners. It's like a perma group ride that goes for as long as you like. The scheduled group rides only seem to attract a decent number if they have a point. I.e. an after party or sprint intervals.
It's summer. Sensible people are riding outside 🙂
Group rides always drop in numbers at this time of year, nothing to worry about. There's the odd big one, usually one of the older clubs midweek, but everyone else just uses the Pace Partners at this time of year.

I only really both with group rides during events like TDZ, etc, when you get absolutely TONS of riders. And not really at this time of year!

Some people have extremely limited time and get more out of an hour on the turbo than an hour outside. Thanks though.
I'll give the pace partners a go. I've seen them a few times and they seem to have a big group. Do they only operate on a particular route, particular world? I.e. only Watopia?
Watopia and also Makuri Islands now.
Ta, will give them a go.
