Hi guys im looking for a smallish laptap or notebook I can use whilst on the train something small enough to pop into a bag but poweful enough for a bit of multitasking word excel and a bit of browsing. Any body using a device like this what do you think and what do you recomend? Thanks
I've had one of these for 3 years now, still works brill and small/light plus an 8 hour battery - what more could you want.

I'm sure there is an upgraded version out now.
How crazy are the spreadsheets?
A lot of people *think* they need power when they really don't. I find I use my iPad & Keyboard combo more and more these days, including for complicated work.
Still use the rMBP for coding, most of the time.

If you've got the money then you're after an "Ultrabook".
I dont really think you need anything super though to be able to multitask MS Office though. I use an Acer Aspire One (1.5Gb, Atom CPU etc) with no problems. In fact the one Im typing this on I have set up with dual boot XP (for Excel - and my models can be very big) and Lubuntu to run Chrome for general mail/browse/news/pdfs etc.
You can pick them up for <£200 on ebay new
and for just a little bit more there's even dual boot android ones.
I use these, I love them.

Mostly down to the SSD + HD compared to only an HD in the work laptop. Although the processor is much slower, you will only notice in compute intensive things (encoding video, playing games etc).
