I know great things have been said about SLX, and the price has been gong up as a result of their popularity but Merlin are now offering SLX disc brakes plus wheels for the same price as XT.
Have Shimano made them too good? Are they as good (or, heaven forbid, better) than XT?
I nearly bought an SLX crankset but got the XT just because it was XT and I like you didn't know much about the SLX, wish I would have got the SLX as 3 of my mates have just bought cranks, etc and say they look better and cost slightly less than XT 🙁

It'll be the exchange rate putting the price up. Might just be that the SLX is newer stock, bought at crap yen:pound rates, whereas the XT stock might be a little older, bought at better rates. Look at what's happened to XT prices at CRC!
Check the old XT hub/rim spec -you'll see why the price is different.
