I've brought a new SLX middle ring (the composite one), however it doesn't appear to be compatible with my XT chain set (M760 version like this http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=3405). The plastic bits seem to get in the way to stop it fitting.
Any ideas? I'm tempted to 'make' it fit with a file...
It is not meant to fit but can be made to fit.
File the spider and not the ring. Should be fine then.
bike whisper - why do you say that? Spider was rather more than the ring...

The new SLX and XT rings only fit the M770 chainset. I guess you could modify the ring, but I definitely wouldn't file the spider! My recommendation: buy a steel Deore ring for the M760s and sell the SLX one on the classifieds.
I will send it back to CRC and swap it for something else!
