My previous psa about brakes from high on bikes should be ignored.
Even though the ad said right front they are in fact left front.

By looks of things he's referring to the m675 models, the m7000's are £160

Not sure if it helps but I've just taken a punt on a set of m8000 xt brakes from alpine trek for £118 (£113 after their £5 off for first order discount code). Not arrived yet but was the cheapest I could find and reviews seem ok (they used to be called bergfreude).

Bentleywood

Thanks for that.

What does it mean when it gives you the option of vr or HR ?

VR front 1000mm hose
HR rear 1700mm hose

Leitungslänge: 1000 mm (VR) / 1700 mm (HR)

Although it doesn't clarify the hose lengths on alpine trek.. But above is normally the hose lengths..so does the low price include the hoses?

I'm guessing so as you can chose between each.

Will report back when they arrive but I needed a pair so hopefully the acronym means front and rear, it translates as that on the action sports website... and the hoses are the right length assuming they are supplied!

Here we are, Hinterradbremse is a rear brake and Vorderradbremse is a front according to google.

Remember that the calipers will be on the "wrong" levers as they'll be for Euro fitment. Should be an easy swap over though. Being careful means you'll likely not need to bleed them.

Had my first ride last week on a pair of merlin m675. They came the 'wrong' way round and it was fairly easy to swap over. Just be careful not to knock the hoses when disconnected. And do the swap with the levers on the bars.

Cheers all.

Took a punt on those Xt mentioned above.

Not fussed about swapping hoses over as have done it before and the rear one will need feeding through the frame anyway.

We'll mine have turned up today and I'm very pleased. Full retail packaging, finned pads and spare olive etc. Just need to swap the levers round now and feed the rear hose through my new clockwork frame...

Only slight niggle was that there was no dispatch email etc so I chased this morning (to which I got a quick response) as they simultaneously arrived in the post.

2016 i think. Arrived and fitted today. Couldn't be arsed swapping the levers over so i'll be going euro 😀 It's only since starting mtb 10 years ago i've run brakes the normal? way. Always rode bmx with right/back so hopefully the transition wont be a painful one. Find out tomorrow

For me (as a Euro buyer) - bikecomponents.de has a cheaper price at 139 euro versus 149 from Merlin but maybe that small difference isn't worth the bother...

They also have XT 8000 for just 175 euro

To save hours of reading, what's the difference between the m7000 and the M675 SLX brakes ?

When the Mrs gets paid tomorrow I'm pulling the trigger and replacing a shot pair of Hope Mini on the Inbred.

Sorry for not replying earlier.

Difference between the slx models is a more inline master cylinder I believe.

A lot of people say they can't really tell the difference in performance to be honest.

Oh and that's a bit of a **** reply from goldigger tbh

Thanks for the reply Renton.
Other info I've dug up since I got home earlier than expected tonight is:

"The bar clamp is i-Spec II compatible"
"the I-Spec-II system on M7000 will ONLY allow Shimano 11-sp. shifters to be fitted."

"M7000 is a mild evolution of M675. The biggest operating difference between the two is that M7000 has considerably better modulation"

sorry I was just taking the p@ss

I've got some m675 brakes on my dude, performance wise there's not a lot of difference between them and the m785 that I have on my Anthem.

Calipers are virtually identical apart from a split pin rather than a Bolt to hold the pads in place.
Levers are just missing the free stroke adjustment.

I believe the M7000 come fitted with resin pads rather than sintered. As above the master cylinder is more integrated which makes them more slimline.

I'm tempted to sell my m675 brakes and replace them with XT to match the XT 11 speed. There about 6 weeks old.

Weights lever+caliper+hose

M675 287g
M7000 271g

That's now 2 shops that have sent me a front left instead of the advertised front right.
Why someone would import them into the country I don't know.
