I'm building up a old frame for my sons next bike and want to put 11-42 on it.
I have one the roadlink copies can I get away with using that to increase the slx mech range or do I need a goatlink

I've got SLX and 11-42t 10speed on my Mega - no issues and didn't need to use a link.
Also got 11-42t 10speed on my lads bike with a SRAM X5 mech and needed a link - used the £1.50 Chinese copy, works ok little bit slow to shift but does the job.

My old bike had same on a normal slx mech without adapting it, and worked fine.

Works fine. Goatlink only really needed for 11-46
