Anyone tried those folding slingshot frames, with the cable in place of the downtube?

they certainly look interesting ...
all the write-ups I've seen refer to the farmboy 29er but look favorable.
the folder might be a tad heavier though.

yep. cheaper than the USA - where they're from.
could be tempting in a take anywhere mountain bike kind of way.

yeah, the prob is it might be more of a take anywhere rather than Go anywhere, i do wonder how it compares to the big dahons, both in terms of folding and riding

If you want a mountain folder check out the montague mountain bikes.
had a fiddle with their stuff at the london bike show recently and was really impressed at how solid they feel.

The concept is interesting, but wonder what happens if your bike is in the air?

They're too heavy IMO

I rode down the Devils Staircase beside a guy on a Slingshot, didnt seem to hold him back. Looks wierd though.
