[#1388126]

Building up an 853. sliding dropout inbred. I get the principle of the sliding dropout letting you tension the chain, but I can't figure how how my brakes can mount. There's a massive gap between the frame and the brake when I hold it in the right place on the disc!

So. I'm thinking frame issue, wrong adaptor, need a SS-specific wheel with bigger hub?

Happy to have something obvious and stupid pointed out too! ๐Ÿ˜‰

you need a couple of spacers. either drill a whole in a couple of bits of 1/8th ally or use a couple of nuts with the centres drilled out. ( 6mm IIRC? ).

6mm spacers needed. They came with the frames when new. Save $$$ in CNCing from a big bit of plate.

Thanks everyone - glad to have cleared that up. Tony - I'll drop you a mail now to take you up on your kind offer.

As an interim solution I'm just trying the nuts that screw onto presta valves, as the vernier says 3mm, and they appear to be the same thread as a brake mount bolt. ๐Ÿ™‚

They work ok with a stack of washers too, until you're able to hook up with stumpy's offer.
