I'm off for a golfing weekend at the end of October. Any local trails worth looking at for a couple of hours or so before we t off at 12?

Loads round there, get the OS map out. Bit on the 'soggy' side after heavy rain though.

As above you are surrounded by good trails round there. Slaley forest has a few routes and then you've got the excellent moorland trails round Blanchland/Edmundbyers and Hexhamshire.

Search for Edmundbyers on here and you'll find a recent thread about a cracker of a ride.
