[Closed] Skye - sligachan route info wanted

Did it in May, out from the hotel to Camasunary, over the hill to the road then up a stream (literally), across some bog to the road on the other coast and follow the coastal road back. Haven't got the actual route I'm afraid but could probably plot it if you need me to and no-one else has it. Great route, some really stunning scenery. The first half section out was brilliant but if I did it again I would turn back at Camasunary and do that path again. Not because the rest was rubbish, it was fun but very wet and a bit of a slog. Monster head wind on the way back too, which was just horrible. Suppose what I'm saying is the whole route is one that I'd do once, but adjust it if I did it again. As I say, well worth doing!

whilst you're on Skye though, definitely venture up Old Man of Stor!

So it looks like its worth doing Sligachan out and back on the same track?

I did it as an out and back from the Sligachan hotel, and all the riders we met en route seemed to agree that was the best way to do it. Once we reached Camusmary we also went up Am Mam for the view before heading back and then back down the same side again.

We were there a few weeks ago, started from the hotel and went to Luib to get the roady bit over first, from Luib you stsrt the single track which can be a bit boggy but really good. Once you get to Loch Slapin go left for 1 mile if want a really good coffee and amazing cakes at the blue hut cafe, YUM YUM! Then its on the road again and a cracking climb and descent to Camasunary. Then its 11miles of really cracking singletrack which finishes at the door of the pub! Now that a ride.

Sgurr Nan Gillian looks impressive on that photo above and the pinnacle ridge route to the summit, the summit block is no bigger than a dining table.

I cannot wait to do this route with MrCM in August!!!! 😀

instead of coming over the strath mor path, we came over strath beag a couple of kilometres further east. Going in a clockwise direction (i.e. glen sligachan is last bit), you come out opposite the cafe. The slog up is definitely a carry-a-bike for an hour or so but there is a great downhill to the cafe. Not sure how it compares to strath mor as havn't ridden that section.
